Cadiz Rotary Club - Summary of Grant Program
The Grant Program was founded in 2002, and awards were given for the first time to the Class of 2003.
The program was designed to help average students with above average needs. It is intended for the “B” and “C” student who needs financial assistance.
Every student is interviewed in order for us to learn more about their personal needs and to develop a personal relationship between a Rotarian and the student. Each student’s need is assessed on a 100 point scale. 50% is based on financial need. 20% is special needs (health/family situation/background/etc.); 20% is academic and 10% is extracurricular (which gives strong consideration for work since it is likely that this student works instead of being involved in school activities).
The Cadiz Rotary Club earmarks 50% of our total income to grants and scholarships.
In 4 years, the Cadiz Rotary Club has given 111 different students a need-based grant to assist with higher education. 52 students have applied for renewals. We’ve invested $105,725.00 in grants to date in grants! This year alone, 91 students who live in Trigg County received a scholarship or a grant (either first time or renewal).
